ROLLER SKATING 101
Roller Skating 101 is for beginners who want to learn the basics in a fun and encouraging environment. No prior roller skating experience is necessary to participate - we start at the very beginning! We learn how to skate forwards, backwards and everything in between. We practice braking, transitions and other fun tricks. We also learn how to fall in the safest way possible.
Participants need to bring their own roller skates, helmets and protective gear (wrist guards, knee & elbow pads). We have a small collection of roller skates and padding for those who don’t have their own. Contact us to find out if we carry your size! If you need help finding the right skates or equipment, you can check out our Roller Skate Guide for more information on brands and shops.
What’s on the Program
The first session starts out with a short introduction to skate maintenance - we check all the skates and wheels and make sure everything is rolling smoothly. After we warm up, stretch and train together as a group, there is dedicated time in the "cooling down" period for individual practice and one-on-one instruction. The goal is to get you feeling stable and confident on your wheels by the end of the 4 weeks!
